Q: Do nerves move in your back after a chiropractic adjustment?
This may seem strange but I had a chiropractic adjustment yesterday – and ever since I left the office it feels like nerves are just running up and down my back? Has anyone ever felt this before. No pain – it just feels like something is crawling in my back… If anyone knows anything about this please answer.
A: ACTUALLY, in response to the guy above me…Chiropractors have to take more Human Anatomy credits than Medical Doctors. So they’re very familiar with the human body.
And nerves move all the time. Adjustments can loosen up the soft tissue, but nothing bad comes out of a good adjustment. You may be a little sore, but the wiggly feeling will go away I’m sure.
Hope that helps.
Q: Have you ever heard of a chiropractic adjustment to get rid of spitting up?
Someone recently told me that they heard of this new thing where you take your baby to a chiropractor and they do a quick little adjustment near their sternum and it cures them of spitting up. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it before? Any info on how I can find someone in my area to do it? I live on Long Island in NY. Thanks!
A: I’ve heard of it, but never tried it. A chiropracter that goes to my church adjust babies for everything from spitting up to plain old fussiness. He adjusts newborns and says all newborns need it because of the birth through the birth canal…….it is worth a shot. Look them up in the phone book and call and ask if they work on infants.
Q: Is there a type of Yoga that simulates the effect of a chiropractic adjustment?
I’m curious if anyone knows if there is a certain kind of yoga that specifically helps individual with bad backs, and if this yoga, when practiced, has similiar effects to receiving an adjustment from a chiropractor? (complete with the cracking of the spine?)
Thanks.
A: Yoga or other types of exercise may very well complement a chiropractic adjustment, but it would not be a substitute for a quality chiropractic adjustment. The stretching and strengthening of muscles would help in allowing an adjustment to “hold” for longer if the exercises are done correctly. Performing exercises improperly or over-doing it could have the reverse effect. I hope this helps.
Q: Is it safe to exercise (go for a run) after a chiropractic adjustment?
I’m feeling a little lightheaded and this is my first chiropractic treatment. Is it safe to exercise?
A: Anything that tenses the back/core muscles is a bad idea immediately after an adjustment. Yoga would be the best thing to do along with steam or hot tub.
Q: Would a chiropractic adjustment help my child with mild autism?
I’ve heard of chiropractor’s working small miracles on some children ranging from anything like slurred speech to potty training. Have any parents of children with autism had success with chiropractors working on their children? If so, what aspects has it helped with?
A: it may not help the autism, but it certainly can make a body feel better. don’t forget to include yoga, too!
Q: Is it bad to have a chiropractic adjustment on my neck once every couple of days?
I was just in a minor auto accident and I’m not sure if I’m over doing it. Thanks for the help!
A: I recommend you, http://www.wortix.com , a medical forum, where doctors will answer to your doubts… good luck
Q: Can needing a Chiropractic adjustment on my upper neck cause dizziness?
I’ve been battling dizziness and sever sinus problems. I have seen and ENT, Allergist and reg. MD.
No one is helping. My upper left neck hurts near the base of my skull. Can all my probs be cause from misalignment?
I’m running out of money..help
A: Yes chiropractic can help dizziness caused by a pinched nerve in your neck.
Q: Why does it make you extremely sleepy after you have a CHIROPRACTIC adjustment?
Normally, by Monday, have more energy.
Today really felt a little zonked out afterwards, due to back treatment.
A: Maybe you were carrying a lot of stress and the adjustment released that, so now you’re relaxed for a change.
Q: What is the activator method and how is it different than a regular chiropractic adjustment?
A: Regular chiropractic adjustment involves the chiropractor manually (using hands) adjusting and aligning the vertebral bones of the spine.
An activator is an instrument that is composed of a spring mechanism with a rubber-like tip (it has adjustable tension) that is often used for geriatric patients but is now becoming very popular with all patients. The chiropracter does not use the hands to adjust the spine. First, he/she feels each vertebra to determine if it is out of alignment. Then uses the activor instrument to “pop” the bone into alignment. It is a much more gentle method, in my opinion.
Q: Can a ganglion cyst be removed by a chiropractic adjustment?
I have already tried smashing it with a book (several times)..it comes back. I also tried the needle…it came back (the next day). It does not hurt but it sure is ugly and I am ready to try surgery. My chiropractor seemed to think she could get rid of it with adjustments? Any one heard of this or had this work?
A: No. Ganglion cysts usually are very painful and removed via surgery when feasible.
Q: Have you ever had a chiropractic adjustment where your vision improved dramatically for a moment?
Please describe it.
A: I don’t know that, specifically, but I do know that the first chiropractic patient was deaf, and after that chiropractic adjustment, he regained his hearing. I’m sure an adjustment has the same effect on sight as well.
Q: How much does a chiropractic adjustment cost?
A: Well it depends on whether you have health insurance or not. If you do, it’ll depend on what your particular insurance will cover. Anywhere from like $10 to $40 a session. Without insurance, it’ll depend on the chiropractor. Most will often give breaks to those without insurance and charge between $50 to $75 a session. It’s best to call around and ask the office directly, though.
Q: Can a chiropractic adjustment really cause a stroke?
A: Only in people whose carotid artery is in an unusual place that can be crushed if there is a high-force adjustment to the neck. A good chiro will check for the placement of the artery before adjustment.
BTW, there are 1-2 deaths per year out of about 30 million adjustments. Very safe!
Q: Heat or cold after chiropractic adjustment?
Is it best to use heat or cold on my back after a chiropractic adjustment?
A: It depends on which you feel more comfortable using.
I personnally prefer using heat because it’s more relaxing.
Q: Do you always get instant relief after a chiropractic adjustment.?
I have been having chiropractic adjustments for years with lots of success, but, I change locations often, due to my husbands type of work, which means, I have been to many different chiropractors, some are fantastic, instant relief, others have no effect at all. When my neck is out of allignment I have splitting headaches and my tinnitus is unbearable,a new symptom I have not had before is pins and needles in my left fingers, are these symptoms common with other sufferers.
A: You should tell your doctor about your symptoms. Pins and needles is typically a sign of nerve compression. You may need an MRI of your neck to rule out a disc bulge, or other pathology that is responsible for your symptoms.
