Q: Have you ever heard of a chiropractic adjustment to get rid of spitting up?
Someone recently told me that they heard of this new thing where you take your baby to a chiropractor and they do a quick little adjustment near their sternum and it cures them of spitting up. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it before? Any info on how I can find someone in my area to do it? I live on Long Island in NY. Thanks!
A: I’ve heard of it, but never tried it. A chiropracter that goes to my church adjust babies for everything from spitting up to plain old fussiness. He adjusts newborns and says all newborns need it because of the birth through the birth canal…….it is worth a shot. Look them up in the phone book and call and ask if they work on infants.
Q: Exercising after a chiropractic adjustment?
How long should one wait to exercise after a spinal adjustment? I have been doing this the day after the treatment, however in the past I have been instructed to wait a few days (1-2).
A: And you should wait a few days.
Ask your chiropractor again next time.
Q: how to chiropractic adjustment improve allergy conditions?
A: I had bad allergies and headaches that started as a teenager after a fall at a construction site.
I had them for years until I went to a Chiropractor because of a sports injury. A few weeks later I realised my allergies were also gone, and my headaches too.
The glands in your neck and elsewhere are controlled through the ciliary ganglion of your autonomic nervous system, which is directly controlled by the nerves which come out of the spinal column.
It’s very simple, and I can show you on any Gray’s anatomy chart in two seconds.
Medicines of course do nothing other than temporarily, and I spent my high school years asleep on the table half the time because of allergy medicines whiping me out to it hurts you in other ways too.
Q: Lower Back Pain from Chiropractic Adjustment?
I went to a chiropractor yesterday for chronic neck pain. He did a full adjustment which was great and most of the pain in my neck has already dissapeared. One thing though, I was up all night because my lower back was hurting. I thought it would have gone away in time for work today but its still killing me. Does anyone know how long it will take for it to go away? I have another apt. on sat. Also how many adjustments are enough? my co payment is pretty pricey and I hope not to be going to the chiro forever. Thanks,
A: Tell your chiropractor about this new pain you are experiencing after his adjustment. Don’t let him sign you up for an endless amount of appointments ( they like to do that.) If you are not feeling better after three adjustments, tell him you want to wait and see how you feel before you schedule another appointment… and then do just that. Did he recommend an anti-inflammatory?
I have had experience with chiropractors…there are good ones and not so good ones. Don’t let them talk you into long term visits. See how you feel after your adjustments and YOU decide what you want to do.
Good luck.
Q: how can I do chiropractic adjustments for myself?
Seems like all my bones are out of place, but I notice it most in and around my hips. I am unable to visit a chiropractor at this time, so does anyone know how I can adjust my bones by myself.
A: Use a tennis ball. Lie down with the tennis ball on your back. It will help work on knots without spending a lot on massage and hurting someone’s fingers and thumbs or elbows trying to release those knots. Then, many times acupuncture works wonders as it treats the source – cause like it could be your digestive system that is making your muscles become inflamed which in turn pulls your back out of alignment. Thus, seek to remedy the cause first. Then the rest will fall into place. lThis has been my experience. Sometimes walking with an ice pack if you have severe inflamation will do wonders, too.
God bless.
Q: How frequently should Chiropractic Adjustments be done?
My Chiropractor wants to see me 3 times a week, every week for a year. I have cancled appointments because of soreness and inflamation, and I feel that the adjustments are excessive. I’ve delt with chiropractors all my life and I have never heard of adjustments being done so frequently for so long. Does anybody have any info on the safety of frequent adjustments? Should I be getting that many adjustments? Links to professional articles and info on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
A: Never, since I have seen a few people with carotid dissection after visiting a chiropractor.
Q: How do you find a MEDICAL DOCTOR (MD) who offers chiropractic adjustments?
I know, it’s an odd request, but it’s a loophole in my medical insurance plan: if I can find a medical doctor (MD), NOT a Doctor of Chiropractic(DC), who offers chiropractic adjustments, the specialist copays are considerably lower in my medical plan. I guess the idea here is to find someone who is a MD, yet also trained as a DC? Yeah, it’s a strange scenario.
The insurance company has no record of MDs who offer adjustments, so the only other alternative is to call EVERY SINGLE MD in the area who’s in the insurance plan and ask if they are also a DC and if they offer chiro adjustments. That’s just ridiculous, but that’s the kind of lunacy I’ve grown to expect from Blue C… er, better not name them here.
Anyone have any other ideas?
A: look for someone with DO after their name and not MD. DOs are doctors of osteopathy which is a doctor that can do all of the stuff that MDs do, but has training in manipulations as well. DOs should be covered by your insurance.
Q: I have minor subluxation in my back, roughly how long could this take to correct with chiropractic adjustments?
A: I would depend on the extent of misalignment. But anyways such disorder can be treated by normal and regular exercises performed using Chiropractic Tables, these table help move back joints to normal position over a period of time by applying small force in the right direction and doing certain exercises which strengthen the muscles to recover back.
One can also perform these exercises at home by using Portable chiropractic table at home which does not take much of a storage space and is cheap to buy.
Here is one such company which makes portable chiropractic tables.

Q: How do I know whether to see a chiropractor or a dentist for TMJ?
I think I might have TMJ. I have some popping on one side of my jaw (the other side seems perfectly fine). I can make it stop popping if I push my bottom jaw out and open and close, so I wonder if a bite plate would help or chiropractic adjustments? Help please…
A: It definitely sounds like TMJ, and you should talk to your dentist to get a recommendation for an orthodontist.
Your teeth should fit together as such: the bumps on the molars should fit together much like a puzzle, and the front teeth on the top should slightly overlap and touch the lower front teeth. While you should talk to your dentist, it’s helpful to know how it’s supposed to work so you can check your dentist. I had one dentist tell me my bite was fine when I could put a strip of chewing gum in my mouth without opening my jaw!
Q: how long are chiropractic adjustments supposed to last?
The reason I ask is because I go to one, and I have noticed that mine do not last over a couple of days. I mean, I can literally feel my body pop right back out again. And I still feel normal, just alittle dif, but not too badly. It’s crazy because I am on a once-a-month schedule, but my adjustments don’t last.
I am pretty active, as I have to be because I have toddlers and work full time. Should I continue to go if I am popping back out so quickly? I wonder…. I don’t think it’s very necessary because all I have is migraines, and I can easily get rid of those by relaxing, not eating a lot of sugar, and laying off the caffeine…
I don’t know, sometimes I feel like some doctors just tell you things are wrong with you so you will continue to help keep them in business. My chiropractor says my situation is bad, but it’s funny because I feel fine..
Thanks !!!!
A: That is the whole principle behind the practice. If chiropractic treatment really worked, the chiropractors would quickly be out of business.
There is much disagreement about both the effectiveness and risks involved with chiropractic treatment. In my opinion, it is the only thing that should needs to be said about chiropractic adjustment:
A chiropractor cannot “cure” your condition or any other– at best, they would just make your muscles feel better. It would be best to first see your doctor—a real physician—and be referred to a physical therapist or an orthopedic specialist. I would advise that your do everything you can to avoid chiropractic treatment, as it will often do more harm than good.
Chiropractors have to believe that everything causes conditions that only they can fix so they can convince patients that we can’t live comfortably without visits twice per week.
I had a stroke last year as a result of chiropractic treatment and have since made it a priority to raise awareness of the dangers of chiropractic care. I ask that anyone going to visit a chiropractor to be aware of the risks and make an informed decision about treatment.
Although the chiropractic community will argue that I don’t have a degree and I don’t know what I am talking about, I only want to make sure people considering chiropractic treatment that there are risks. I have nothing to gain from this. Can chiropractors say the same? Make sure you get both sides of the story!
Q: I want relief from vertigo. What do you suggest? How quickly will it work?
I flew round-trip July 6-9. The vertigo began the night of the 8th.
It feels like I’m on a boat, rocking on waves. I’ve had 2 chiropractic adjustments. I’ve used some Afrin and some Sudaphed. When I took meclizine (12.5 mg) I didn’t get any relief, but I got groggy, lethargic and totally unproductive. I tried 25 mg, and I might as well have gone to bed. I really need to get better fast–I’m going to fly again on July 23rd. Please help me get relief by then. Thanks!
I was told my Eustachian tubes were full and that I needed them to drain. I will use a neti pot, starting now.
Thanks, everyone for your answers and understanding. I guess there aren’t any prescription drugs without side effects.
And, I do have low blood pressure, too.
The health food store recommended
ginkgo biloba. I think I’ll try that.
Thanks again for your answers. I can’t pick which one is best. I’d everyone to vote, instead of me choosing, okay?
A: I suffer from vertigo and my doctor prescribed two medications for me. One is called serc and the other is stemitil. The stemitil helps with the feeling of nausea you get from the vertigo and also the serc can cause a little nausea as well. With vertigo, sometimes your ears become blocked and this puts you off balance which just further adds to the symptoms of vertigo. It’s an awful feeling, but I have found that these tablets help. Some days they work better than others but I also have really low blood pressure so on the days it is really low, the serc and stemitil do nothing what so ever.
Hope this has been helpful
Q: Migraine question and tips?
I have these debilitating migraines every 1.5 to 2 months, They usually last over 60 hours unless i get a chiropractic adjustment to the neck then it goes away instability. It is definitely coming from my neck. They are excruciating.
Does anyone else have this type of migraine?
How do you handle it?
A: I use to get them. I still do on occasion, but not near as often as I use too. Only time I get them now is when either my neck is acting up and if that is not, it is from my heart not beating properly. Heart goes into Atrial fibrillation I was in a few accidents and have herniated dish in neck that use to cause it. Strange thing tho, I NEVER had migraines until after I had a Mylo-gram. I would have them for three to five days in a row before seeking medical help. Prior to my heart problems they use to give me shots of Demerol. They would knock me out for the rest of the day, but when I awoke, the migraine would be gone!
To control it they use to have me on Pam-Lor (sp?) Then they kinda started not coming back. I’d only got them for awhile like once every six month. Now I only get them MOSTLY when my heart acts up. So I know when I get a migraine I need to have my heart rate and rhythm checked.
Other than that, I don’t know. I sometimes wonder if allergies and or stress might play a role. So maybe ya need something to handle stress. Or something near by your allergic too. Just guessing on the allergy bit. Just when ya get them use an ice pack and stay in a dark room and sleep. Or put a towel over your eyes.
GL~!
Q: Getting a massage today for my lunch hour, do you tip and how much?
Ok first off let me state that this is part of my chiropractic adjustment. My co pay includes an adjustment and a 30 minute massage. Because this will be a “medical” massage rather then a “spa” massage do I still tip? If so how do you determine how much to tip? When you go to a spa you tip 15 to 20 percent of the cost but since my co pay is $20 I am not sure how to figure a tip or even if I should leave one. Thanks for your answers!!
A: If your massage is a part of your chiropractic treatment, You are not going to get what you want massaged, but rather what the chiropractor deems appropriate for the massage therapist to treat your medical condition. Therefore, you are not really receiving a luxury, but a bonafide part of your medical treatment, just like if the doctor ordered the nurse to give you an injection—Is it good for you? –Yes Did the nurse put the shot where you necessarily wanted it—NO
You wouldn’t tip the nurse, would you.
Same applies for a massage at the chiropractors.
Not to mention, depending on the state, it may be illegal for the health care provider to accept any other monies, other than your co-pay.
Q: THE TOP OF MY FOOT IS NUMB…ADVICE please?
left foot about half of the top of my foot is numb/tingliy…its been like this for over 40 hours now…i have been having chiropractic adjustments on my back i had 14 pinched nerves. if one of the vertabrea slipped back do you think that would be causing the numbness on the top of my foot and toes? how long should i wait until i go see him again? i hate running to the doctors. ….
A: Hello,
Although this could be a problem with the vertebra themselves, it is much more likely that this sciatica is from a soft tissue source such as a disc in your spine.
A disc bulge/prolapse could cause tingling or numbness but only an MRI scan would pick this up properly, an x-ray done by the Chiropractor would not. See your GP to ask for the MRI.
Make sure that you tell your Chiropractor about this new symptom, it will be very important and you may need a new adjusting pattern. They may also want to check your reflexes and skin sensation down your leg. The exact areas of numbness can give the chiropractor a good indication of exactly which disc could be affected.
I hope that you feel better soon. Put something cold on your spine for now, such as an ice pack and rest until you see your doctor and Chiropractor, Isabel.
Q: Recovery time from deep muscle bruising………..?
Fell down the stairs 10 days ago. X-rays showed nothing broken or out of place but I have some nasty bruising on my back and buttocks (particularly right side). Hip muscle goes into spasm easily, especially while trying to sleep. Advil doesn’t help much. I have had 3 sessions of physical therapy and chiropractic adjustments. Anyone have any similar experiences or offer any hints on how to cope until pain subsides? Any idea how long muscle spasms will continue?
A: Regular, gentle stretching of the hip and buttock muscles (your physical therapist should have shown you these). Ice or heat (both help decrease muscular spams, but ice will also decrease the inflammation and swelling, whereas heat may increase it). Drink a lot of water and make sure you are getting enough electrolytes and potassium (bananas!). The spams are your body’s reaction to the injury. The intensity and frequency should decrease with time.
