Q: Chiropractic question?
Ok so i went to a Chiropractic center and they told me one of the mane reason that i have headaces all the time is because i sleep on my stomach and that makes my neck strait instead of curved so is this true?
A: That is correct, your neck has a natural curve and when it is pressed sideways for long periods of time (6-10 hours while you sleep) your muscles become very tight and pull your bones slightly out of place. If you continue to sleep that way eventiually the problem will begin to spiral down your back and you will notice lower back pain and hip pain as well.
If you are uncomfortable with chiropractic care, go to see a massage therapist. By changing your sleeping patterns and getting those neck muscles loosened up, you should be able to get relief from those tension headaches without the use of drugs. It was very hard for me to get used to sleeping on my back, but once I broke myself of the bad sleeping habits my headaches all but disappeared.
Best of luck to you!
Chiropractors are “real” doctors. They have their doctorates in chiropractic medicine and have to take the same Human Biology prerequisites as MDs before attending chiropractic school. They have the same amount of hours in the classroom as MDs , only chiropractors take twice as many hours of diagnostics, and MDs take twice as many hours of pharmacology.
Q: i need to know if there is anyway to obtain a list of all accident records for the past 30 days in oregon?
I help run a massage and chiropractic center and am trying to expand on my Motor Vehicle Accidents, therefore if i could somehow obtain a list every month for the accidents around here it would help me to expand.
A: Sure, just hire a few hundred thousand private investigators, and post one on every street corner, 24/7.
And people complain about lawyers….
Q: Manager has suspended me for her mistakes; owner of business won’t return my phone calls…. HELP!!!?
I started a job at a chiropractic center in January, the 14th, to be exact. I “trained” for 2 days before I began closing on my own. I made a few mistakes, but quickly corrected them and continued learning the their way of doing things.
Within a week, my manager began asking me about appointments that were booked wrong- and basically telling me that I ruined her morning/or afternoon because clients were upset that their appointments were either at the wrong time or not on the schedule at all! I thought it sounded funny, because I’m very experienced with the software they work on- I’ve worked with it before at a previous job. I began keeping track of all the appointments I made and making sure everything was perfect.
This week I was accused of shorting the drawer 2 days in a row; come to find out she miscounted a roll of dimes as “40″ rather than 50 on 1 day (yes, a huge deal was made about it) The second day she missed several rolls of coins and I had to point it out to her that day as well! This past weekend 3 people were booked for 1 appointment; when I asked who they spoke with- they all replied with her name. She blames me even as I type this, saying I should have made sure that everything was in the system correctly.
She asked if she could put me on probation yesterday, and told me not to clock in and took my key. I told her “No, because the mistakes happening around here aren’t from me. ” I was told that “probation period” is admitting fault. Is it?
She told me that this is a “work at will” state, and that she owes no explanation for letting me go. She has several clients who have written horrible reviews about the business online and her name comes up in quite a few of them! 2 of the reviews should have proved to her that she messed up the booking or what-not. Even then, she tried to connect it back to me.
This business is a franchise; I was told to call “Franchise Corporate”… I have to find out about it.
What would you do???
HELP!
***I know I have options; I’d just like to know the opinions of you kind people out there.***
I have called the owner several times and left a voicemail. She said she was on her way today w/the checks only for her husband to show up. At this point I’m at home and not being paid.
Thanks for the answers so far…. not looking too good, but I do appreciate the response.
A: I would say the owners have already picked their side and it is not you. Find another job and post your review of your job and company.*
Q: my boss accused me of steeling what should i do?
my boss accused me of steeling $16,000 what should i do. he put me on administrative leave with no pay. i’ve worked for him for almost seven years. i’ve never been convicted of any crime. I’m an honest person and work hard for me money. he says he need more patients all the time and there’s not a lot of money coming in. i don’t know if he’s taking money and the books aren’t adding up or what but he’s pointing the finger at me. i work at a chiropractic center. what should i do? please help me!
A: If you are an honest person then I honestly need tell you that you spelled ’stealing’ wrong.
Unless you actually meant ’steeling’ like you were laminating money with steel or something. If that is the case, your boss is really stupid.
Q: What treatment is best for back pain and tension?
I had a bike accident years ago and have been going to the Chiropractic Centre for years on and off. The last stint was 2 years, and i really don’t see a benefit. Yes it helps at the time, but then just goes back to how it was.
I have tried physiotherapy, however, this did not work either. I am now going to try a combination of deep tissue massage, to get the tension out, combined with reflexology as it has been highly recommended and I am in two minds about whether Palates will help my posture or make the problem worst!
Any advice would be good.
A: Hello – I had very bad tension and pain in my shoulders and back some time ago and was in agony. I tried Bowen Therapy. It is very, very gentle and resets the energy balance in your muscles. You can Google it for more info. Initially you will feel worse for a short time as your body corrects the energy imbalance… only a day or so. Then it’s like magic and you may feel wonderful – that is if it works the same for you as it did for me. I highly recommend it. Sometimes massage and other types of heavy manipulation of the muscles only exacerbates problems. Bowen Therapy is totally different, but works. And the benefits last a long time unlike massage, where you have to keep going back.
Good luck – I hope whatever you decide on, it works for you.
Q: Has anyone ever heard of treating severe acne with chiropractic therapy?
My son was diagnosed with moderate to severe acne (closer to severe than moderate, says the doctor), he was told he should be put on accutane. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories, so I looked into alternative medicine. I took him to a wellnes center, they took x-rays since his neck was tender. They found that C1,2 & 3 vertabrae are really out of line. I believe it is C3 that is pushing on his pituitary gland, they feel that this could be the cause of his acne. Has anyone every heard of anything like this? He is receiving physical therapy. I really hope it works for him, he’s only 14 and he’s been dealing w/severe acne for almost a year now and I’m so sad for him. He and my husband don’t believe this is going to work and I’m constantly butting heads with their closed minds. I just want to find a safe and effective treatment for him. Please let me know if you have any info. Thanks! Evie
A: Yes, I have heard of this. I’ve never talked to anybody who said that chiropractic cured their acne, but it certainly can’t hurt to try! Accutane is a last resort, I agree totally with you.
I went to a chiropractor several years ago because I couldn’t get rid of these severe headaches. My neck was a little stiff, from working at a computer all th time. I also had sinus trouble and was taking Claritin D every day, year round.
This chiropractor really helped straighten me out. No more headaches, and a marked difference in the sinus trouble. I only take sinus medication occasionally now, and the spine at my neck is much more loose. When it gets stiff, I can move it around and feel it pop back into place… and immediately feel my sinuses draining, which gets rid of my headaches.
Chiropractic therapy can do a lot of things for people.
I personally believe that people shouldn’t need to keep on going for long periods of time, though. If he doesn’t get relief within a few months, then I’d say it’s time to move on to something else.
Q: Condition causing my neck to tilt off center?
I’m a 22 year old female. A few years ago I began noticing that my neck, for some reason, wasn’t completely straight and vertical but had a slight tilt to the left. I sorta denied it for a while and assumed I maybe slept in a weird position the night before which caused it, but over the years it’s gotten more and more noticable (ie, a steeper and steeper angle!). It’s definitely not something I’m imagining. In pictures in which I’m supposed to look straight ahead (like my driver’s license), it looks like I’m purposely holding my neck to one side. It’s really embarrasing. Even when I try to hold it perfectly straight, I’m unable to. It’s like I don’t have the muscles in my neck to do it, or the spine is in such a position that it won’t let me.
I thought maybe it was scoliosis, which causes the spine to curve and become crooked, but I think that only affects the spine along the actual back. Can anyone give me some insight as to what this “condition” may be called? I’ve noticed other people who also have necks that tilt off center. Also, what type of doctor should I see about this? Orthopedist? Chiropractic?
A: There is actually a condition called Torticollis it is also called Wry Neck. It is where the neck (muscles in the neck) is slightly “twisted” which causes the head to tilt to one side.
You should look up this condition, There are treatment options available, Like applying heat often, and I would suggest frequent Massage by a Licensed Massage Therapist.
I am a LMT and deal with these problems often.
Good Luck!
Q: WHO SWEARS BY CHIROPRACTIC SERVICES? AND IF SO WHY?
MY FRIEND GOES TO A WELLNESS CENTER AND SWEARS SHE HAS NOT HAD A COLD ETC AFTER GETTING TREATED. I’VE BEEN TOLD THAT EACH VERTEBRA CONTROLS CERTAIN PARTS OF THE BODY AND THAT A PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE SPINE IS THE ANSWER TO FEELING AND BEING HEALTHY IN ALL ASPECTS
A: I have done quite a bit of research on the subject of chiropractic treatment and do not believe the benefits out-weigh the risks…
There is much disagreement about both the effectiveness and risks involved with chiropractic treatment. In my opinion, it is the only thing that should needs to be said about chiropractic adjustment:
A chiropractor cannot “cure” your condition or any other– at best, they would just make your muscles feel better. It would be best to first see your doctor—a real physician—and be referred to a physical therapist or an orthopedic specialist. I would advise that your do everything you can to avoid chiropractic treatment, as it will often do more harm than good.
Chiropractors have to believe that everything causes conditions that only they can fix so they can convince patients that we can’t live comfortably without visits twice per week.
I had a stroke last year as a result of chiropractic treatment and have since made it a priority to raise awareness of the dangers of chiropractic care. I ask that anyone going to visit a chiropractor to be aware of the risks and make an informed decision about treatment.
Although the chiropractic community will argue that I don’t have a degree and I don’t know what I am talking about, I only want to make sure people considering chiropractic treatment that there are risks. I have nothing to gain from this. Can chiropractors say the same? Make sure you get both sides of the story!

Q: How long does Chiropractic care take, and when should I finally leave?
I’m aware of how many people want to take the opportunity to bash chiropractors, but I’ve already been to a very reputable doctor already (before I saw a chiropractor) who only prescribed an exercise rehabilitation program at an accredited center that didn’t help and cost just as much.
I’ve had a sharp pain under my left shoulder blade a general back stiffness and a sharp neck pain when I lean my head back (for over 10 years).
I selected a chiropractor who has operated for over 20 years that comes from a family of chiropractors. I don’t think he’s some sort of “quack” running a money scheme.
I’ve been through 9 treatments so far, and my back feels maybe 15% better if that. My original neck pain just shifted down and to the right. The original pain is gone, but this new pain is more-so constant and is really sharp if I take a big step or jump, etc. Is this normal?
I’d really appreciate comments from people who have actually been to a chiropractor, or from chiropractors as to how long they think I should stay or when I should go. Also, what are practical alternatives? I don’t want to be hooked on pain meds. I have an inversion table, and that doesn’t work.
Yes, I know I asked a similar question before, and I really do appreciate the input about docs vs. chiropractors.
But if they didn’t work at all at reducing pain, people simply wouldn’t go to them. That’s why this time I was hoping to get advice from those who have actually had pain and have gone to them for treatment to see what is “normal.”
A: As Dave pointed out, you’ve already had a fabulous answer to a similar question (lol…yes, mine)
You apparently learned nothing from that, so sure…keep asking it until you get an answer you can “believe” in.
What possible difference does it make that he comes from a family of chiropractors? Is he also the 7th son of a 7th son? Does he have the “stink eye” too?
Bottom line, you are clearly not getting better, and you should see someone else. However well meaning and sincere he may be, chiropractic, when it works is just physical therapy…and not everyone is any good at it.
Lightnings answer makes even less sense than usual, by the way, which is saying a lot.
Q: I’m 14 years old and currently having scoliosis?
I’ve got a spinal curvature of 37degrees at the top and 20+ degrees at the bottom and my back aches a lot these days…I’m so anxious right now…I was considering whether or not to go for scoliosis surgery because my brother did it last time……He told me his experience and he said the pain he had after the operation was so excruciating…..I started having minor spinal curvatures when I was 12 years old…over the years it has gotten worse…..I was thinking of going for surgery but my parents told me surgery isn’t the right option for me…..They said it’s too costly and I’ll get a lot of side effects after that…….What shall I do? I’m now undergoing chiropractic treatment……The fact is, it doesn’t help a lot. My spine is more serious than all the chiropractic patients in the treatment centre……..Someone please advise?
A: Haha, I’m in the same boat sister, but I HAD the surgery. I would do it if I were you.
I had it last July and there are no complications or side effects from my experience. I tried out for the volleyball team, and can do anything I want now, it’s not disabling after your spine fuses! However, everyone’s experience is different my dear. Your brothers will be completely different from yours, but now you know what to expect- it’s so much better that way! The doctors know what they are doing and are trained so well! The nurses know how to keep your comfortable, and it’s really not all that bad. It’s an experience! Something that you can look back on and say, “Hey, I braved through that. I ultimately saved myself and look! All is well!”
What’s more important- the side effects, or your overall health?
The surgery hurts, yes! All surgeries hurt, but the fact of the matter is that the pain does eventually go away. I’m so much happier now that I had the surgery, I don’t ache anymore. Although, there is pain occasionally, it’s manageable. I’ve never really heard of Chiropractic treatment for Scoliosis to help cure it. Maybe to reduce pain? The only other “Treatment” option in my opinion is a brace, which no 14 year old girl wants.
Good luck! Like other people have said, trust in God and everything will work out.
Also! If you’d like, check out this site:
www.iscoliosis.com
It has so many stories of people all over the place who have faced Scoliosis.
Q: I need help on a job situation!!?
Okay, I currently work as a Chiropractic Assistant. I have been here for about 5 months yesterday (the 21st) and I don’t like it. At all.
In my town, they are building a Community Center, and I’ve spoken to the director, who seems really nice, about part time jobs, and the duties I would have to and things like that, and I really want to work there. But, working part time AND going to college at the same time would leave me busy CONSTANTLY.
I need office experience. If I work at the Community Center, I would get office experience there. Should I stay here and finish off at least a year? Or should I move to the Community Center and work there full time? The Chiropractor has been having some rough times these past years, and I would feel terrible leaving him. But I don’t like working here!! I would definitely love to try something new, and I think I would be happier working at the Fitness Center. Also, my boyfriend works right next door so it would be much easier with the going back and forth thing!! I don’t know what to do.
I should say, I need more job experience. It’s good to have at least two years, but I know that I can get the job at the Community Center, because he is hiring now, and I have already spoken to him, and I know he likes me. SO I could totally get the job over there. It’s just a matter of quitting the Chiropractor’s office. I could finish getting work experience at the Community Center.
A: 5-6 months of employment is okay. People who work jobs vs careers stay on average less than one year. You anticipate that you will stay at the Community Center for a longer period of time, so make yourself a goal when you start to not quit until you have worked there for a minimum of one year.
It is ok to quit a job that you don’t like at all, it is also hard to find a job that you like during or after high school as you are usually working with older people who will treat you by your age and not as an equal.
If you don’t accept the job at the Community Center you will stay at the Chiro Office and wonder if you made a bad decision.
I am a married mother with two children (when read properly, the last statement indicates that I am a caregiver to three individuals). I am a college student full time, currently have two part-time jobs and somehow I have time for everyone and everything.
You will be much happier at the Community Center and that is why you must go there – Don’t make the mistake of not giving your current employer proper notice, otherwise he won’t give you a good reference when you get the job you are in school for and you would have wasted half a year.
Q: Is there something wrong with my resume?
In the past month, I have sent out about 80 resumes. Despite all this effort, I have only received one request for an interview. I’m wondering if there is anything I can improve on my resume that may help me stand out to prospective employers. Pasted below are the “objective”, “experience”, “education”, and “skills” portions of my resume. Please keep in mind that I am straight out of school and fairly young, which is why I do not have much experience listed. In addition, the gap in my employment between last June and now can be explained by some personal family issues, moving 500 miles across the state, and getting married. If anyone is wiling to take a look and give me some constructive criticism, it would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a passion for massage therapy and would enjoy a position where I can ease clients’ pain and help them relax using spa and medical modalities.
A: first: you’ve got good experience and are quite “job worthy” for the type of position you appear to be applying for.
it feels a bit too informal. don’t just say “i have many specialised skills” actually list all of them. you need to use less paragraphs. have it set up with headings, sub headings then discuss it in point form eg:
Employment
* 05/01-11/01 worked at xxx as a ???. duties were ***, ***,
* (you get the idea)
do the same with skills
keep it SHORT and straight to the point. no one wants to read too much
good luck!!!
Q: What can I do to end my back pain?
So I’m a full time male gymnast and I’ve had back problems for about the last 5 years and I don’t understand why. I’m 16 and I’m super strong and flexible cuz that comes hand in hand with gymnastics. In September, I was at the Olympic Training Center for a National Team camp and I had some back pain while tumbling on the floor, already used to pain, i kept going and working out the rest of the week long camp. The trainers and doctors at the Olympic Training Center took x-rays and didn’t find anything. Continuing to work out in pain, I went to a back specialist in January cuz the pain got so bad and I was having troubles with simply bending over. I was diagnosed with spondylolysis according to a spec scan, the most sensitive type of bone scan. Then we followed up with CT scan and nothing was found. My doctor told me that the fracture was there but isn’t bad and it was caught early. Its now June and I’ve been in physical therapy since April and I do all of my exercises and I’ve been released to start working out and training again. Now that I’m training again, and very lightly, the same pain is starting to come back and its scaring me and my physical therapist says that my muscles aren’t used to being worked like they are and to just keep going. At this point, I know the difference between pain and soreness due to exhaustion and lack of use. This is the beginning of pain. I’ve consistently gotten acupuncture and soft tissue massages and chiropractic and I just don’t know what to do anymore. It’s killing me that I can’t do the one thing Iove pain free and meds and ice/heat don’t work. Any ideas?
Also, the pain doesn’t hurt on my bones or vertebrae. The muscles around L-5 and around my pelvis and hip hurt.
A: Usually a spondylolysis is aggravated by lumbar extension. It is also much more common in gymnasts than the normal population. If the minor spondylolysis becomes a full one, it can progress into spondylolisthesis, where one vertebrae starts to slide forward on the one below it. These are not always painful and a spondylolysis is not guaranteed to progress into a spondylolisthesis.
The bottom line is that continuing the activity will probably continue the aggravation and pain.
The only other thing I can think to try right now (1:23am) is rolfing.
Q: Need help Settling a Pain and Suffering claim for elderly car accident victim?
My 79 year old mom was hit by a 17 year old uninsured driver a year ago. Her insurance company is offering $20K for pain and suffering. She had no broken bones, just a cracked rib and severe bruising. It’s taken a year for her to recover to a point that she is able to return to her normal activities. She continues to have back problems requiring chiropractic treatment and a severe hemotoma on the breast which will require more mammograms.
Having medicare, the trauma center bill of $30K was reduced to $600 due to an agreement the hospital has with medicare. So, her medical expenses only total $13K. I believe this is the reason the insurance company is offering such a low settlement.
My mother lives in California and carries uninsured motorist coverage. The limit on her policy would cover her for up to $100K for pain and suffering. I’m wondering what would be a fair settlement to expect in a case like this.
We have not hired an attorney as we would like to save the 30%.
A: OK, depending on what state you are in, those chiro bills will be heavily discounted – you can see a chiro FOREVER, and not make much progress.
You say she had severe bruising, and a cracked rib. Those are MINOR injuries. The problem is, she’s 79, so it just hurts a lot more and won’t heal well. Hemotoma – that means BRUISE. So she’s got a bruise on her breast. Why does that require mammograms???
She’s got $600 of adjusted medical bills, and $12,000 of chiro bills.
Honestly, I think that $20K is fair. In order to get more, I think you’re going to need that attorney.
