Q: What are the top colleges to become a doctor of chiropractic medice? What are the top chiropractic colleges?
I need to know where the best place to go to school would be to get my D.C.

A: At this time graduates of Chirpractic colleges earn the doctor of Chiropractic degree (DC), not a doctor of Chiropractic Medicine degree (DCM). The term medicine is often misleading in that Chiropractic, as is Allopathy (Western medicine), Osteopathy, Naturopathy and other health care forms are each a different form of medicine. I graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College of Los Angeles in 1991, which had an outstanding out-patient clinic that prepared me for nearly all possible problems I have been asked to evaluate and treate, and feel it is one of the best in the world, not just the USA. All of the colleges which are CCE accredited are professional and have high standards. If you are interested in attending a Chiropractic college, it is important to consider the region you would prefer to live in while at school. If you are most interested in a traditional approach, then Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, might be best.

Q: What is the average GPA for people applying to Chiropractic Colleges?
Most Chiropracic colleges require a 2.5 GPA, but I was wondering what the average GPA was for people applying.

A: Chiropractic GPA requirements are far below those of “other” Health Professions because chiropractic is not a true health profession. It is quackery masquerading in a white coat.

As of about ten years ago the following stats were found:

Medical Students
Average Required Minimum GPA: 3.16
Average GPA of Accepted Students: 3.56
% of Accepted Students with Bachelor’s: 99%

Chiropractic Students
Average Required Minimum GPA: 2.38
Average GPA of Accepted Students: 2.90
% of Accepted Students with Bachelor’s: 42%

If you must do the bone cracking stuff, I suggest you become an Osteopath.

Q: What are the general prerequisites for Chiropractic Colleges in California?

A: The most important pre-requisite is a total rejection of science and the scientific method.

Chiropractic college teaches that ALL human disease is the result of kinks (“subluxations”) in the spine which prevent spirits and nerve impulses from roaming freely through the body. This is of course crackpot stuff.

Q: Which chiropractic colleges are best?
I can’t seem to find a comprehensive review of the nation’s chiropractic colleges and their rankings. Any recommendations?
Currently I’m looking at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN and Palmer Chiropratic College in Davenport, IA.
None of those links really helped. The first one only gives info on which schools are available and links to their sites, which I already have.

As for the college search site, I never got through all the adds and now I’m getting nearly 10 spam messages a day from it!

A: I would seriously suggest the Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in South Carolina.

It was one of the first chiropractic schools opened and unlike a lot of the schools now, it still focuses on the philosophy behind chiropractic… which in my opinion is essential to understanding and becoming a good chiropractor.

Q: How to find a career path in Chiropractic medicine? What are prerequisties & do we have any colleges in India?
I am a final year BSC biotechnology student. I am very keen to find a career in chiropractic medicine. Please help me to find the relevant information about the colleges offering courses and How to proceed ?

A: There are no schools in india. The only schools outside the United States are in Australia, England, Paris.

Q: What do chiropractors typically major in before they go to a chiropractic college?
Im interested in being a chiropractor and i am currently majoring in biology. however, i was curious to know what other possible majors i could check out primarily because biology is just a rather difficult major.

Also what are some really good chiropractic colleges out there? Right now im interested in Palmer, but it seems rather expensie.

A: Chiropractors are anti-scientific quacks. Don’t waste your time.

If you want to study real medicine with some aspects of vertebral manipulation, consider going to a School of Osteopathy and become an Osteopathic Physician.

postscript:
Chiropractors like to advertise themselves as “back doctors/specialists”, but rarely let patients know about their true beliefs. Chiropraxy has nothing to do with modern science or medicine. Chiropractors – at least those who are termed Palmer “straights” – believe that all illness is caused by blockages in the spine – what they call subluxations (magic – because nobody can see them). These chiropractors claim to cure disease by “unblocking” the spine. On slow news days, newspapers and TV stations use to take kids with ear infection to chiropractors, who would often prescribe an expensive series of spinal manipulations for the kid.

Chiropractors who reject or downplay the Palmer “subluxation” orthodoxy are called “mixers”. They’re the ones you see at “health fairs” waving refrigerator magnets above patients to align their spines and remove impurities in the blood – and lighten the patients’ wallets….

Q: Some colleges that offer majors in Creative Writing and Chiropractic Education?
My friend and I want to know colleges that have our majors? A list of colleges that do or some sort of way of searching for these colleges would be helpful.

A: Lewis University
Romeoville, IL

this college is the only college in the us that offers both creative writing and chiropractic assistant majors (chiropractic education was not an option)

Q: can you recommend any colleges with a undergrad pre-chiropractic program
looking for colleges near NY that have an undergraduate pre-chiropractic program.
- Does the school have a good rep in the chiropractic industry?
- Can you also recommend any chiro colleges.

thanks, Im having a hard time finding any info

A: I suggest you read these sites first.

http://www.chirobase.org/

http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?cat=4

Chiropractic ‘medicine’ is basically a scam that’s been perpetuated for a century now with no evidence it works at all, and plenty that it can do real harm. If you want to actually help people, consider getting a real medical degree – like an MD or a nursing degree.

Q: Whats the best chiropractic college in America?
I think i might want to be a chiropractor, but idk much about colleges that do that….
if you could just name some, thanks!

A: National in Chicago is the best by far
i wouldn’t recommend going into the field because of the insurance companies

Q: What does the future of the chiropractic profession look like?
It seems to me that insurance companies have been cutting out more and more chiropractic services over the years. Chiropractic college tuition these days is right up there (almost) with medical school tuition, but on average DCs do not earn nearly as much as MDs. Will it be possible for DCs to make a decent living in the next 10-20 years? Are there any recent grads (within the last 5 years) that have been doing well financially?

A: I love that answer by the student~ can’t wait till she gets out of school~the fact of the matter is that chiropractors don’t make money like they did 20 years ago~ And i don’t care if you know someone who is doing great i will show you thousands that are not. My class of 60 less than 10 are still practicing i just graduated in 2003. Worst mistake of my life. If i didn’t have the student loans it wouldn’t be so bad. Do not get into this field!!!!!!!!!!

Q: Why do chiropractic colleges have such low standards?
I was cruising the internet and was absolutely shocked at this page. This chiropractic school is admitting a large portion of students with less than 3.0 GPA, and requires fewer pre-requisites than many of the nursing schools I am applying to. Does this strike anyone as odd? Many nursing schools are turning away appilcants with GPA’s of 3.5 and above, yet a graduate school is letting any Tom, Dick or Harry in who has taken a few science classes and has a lowly sub-3.0 GPA.

A: Have a look at the schools that offer degrees in naturopathic medicine, or ryuku massage, and you’ll understand. This is fringe science and is mostly bogus: it tends to appeal to people who aren’t academically ambitious. If you’re a nurse, you’re doing real medicine, not energy-rechanneling, the rules are a good deal more rigorous, and you’re expected to do things right.

Q: Paying for Chiropractic College and Starting a Practice?
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to pay for chiropractic college or do you just have to put yourself into major debt to do it?

Then when you are finished and ready to start a practice what is the best way for going about that? Or is it easier to buy an old office?

HELP!!!

A: When your venturing out on your own for the first time, but a used space/rental, until your company/business has a chance to grow in reputation, and financially. Within 4 years if u see a efficient, increase in sales, and profit…Upgrade! Market a newer image, and let your customers know it. Then you will be working from a (lack of a better word) “Pretty” place, and you’ll have return customers that will follow!

Q: What Are The Prerequisites for Chiropractic College in Canada?
I am an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology student and I am looking into becoming a Chiropractor. What sort of courses, grades, or other things do you need to apply to a Chriropractic College, or to be considered.

Thanks.

A: well i know terms course wise this is what you need

1 year english

1 year organic chemistry + lab(s)
1 year physics + labs

terms of gpa and such

Q: What is the best College for Doctor of Chiropractic in California (moreso southern – Los angeles area…)?
looking at becomming a chiropractor… and focusing on maybe Cleveland Chiropractic College or Southern California University of Health Sciences or life chiropractic college west (though the first two are preferable due to distance).

Just looking for recommendations of college’s and any advice! Thanks!

A: Hi there, good luck and congratulations in advance! I have a few friends that went to Cleveland and are doing great. That is the one that comes to my mind the quickest and am familiar with it because of them. I have also heard of SCUHS and have one friend in San Francisco that attended Life, so I think you are on the right track so far! I myself would probably choose Cleveland….No bones about it LOL! (But that’s just an opinion) However, check them all out before you commit….There are so many. Great profession….Good luck!

Q: Can you get into chiropractic school with a GED?
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I likely will not be able to get my high-school diploma, but it’s been my dream for a long time to be a chiropractor… Will a chiropractic college accept applicants with just a GED?
Or are they as strict about admissions as a university?

A: I don’t think Highschool grades or GED matter much. You would have to do the college pre-requisites to enter Chiro college though. It’s basically pre-med. Some schools may even require a bachelors degree now. See the following site and check out the various colleges and their current requirements. Best of luck
