Q: I have an AAS in science and a Dr of Chiropractic degree. Can this be the equivalnt of a bachelors degree?
I’ve retired from practice after 20 years. I’d like to go to school to become a teacher on the Mid-High School level of a professor at a college. Whats next?
I have practiced Chiropractic for 20 years and retired. I want to go back to school to becoma a teacher eith at Mid-High School or a college professor. ???
A: No, the difference is in hours completed. An AAS is generally 60 hours, while a bachelor’s degree is usually 126.
Q: Who is a Reputable chiropractic and physical therapy Dr in Phoenix?
Back specific
A: There are many reputable chiropractic physicians out there. But, everyone is different for treatment. I would suggest going to a NYCC graduate, National graduate, Parker graduate. As these are the top chiropractic schools in America. And guarantee you to have one of the best DCs out there.
Q: Why can’t Gov encourage blending of disciplines, medical, alternate and Chiropractic to reduce surgery, and dr?
If the Disciplines were blended the patient would be the focus of healing rather than the current “Industry” . Fewer drugs would be prescribed and fewer surgeries would be called for.
With fewer drugs, patients would remain “healthier” in their futures.
Medical Schools should not be run by the Pharmaceutical Industry, it s too self serving and not good for people.Political question due to Health Care push
Perhaps I used the wrong word, I did hear that American Medical Schools are supported greatly by the Pharmaceutical Companies.
Is that true?
A: The bottom line is that MOST patients do not want to do what it takes to remain healthy. They want to eat too much, exercise too little, smoke, drink and so on. Then, when things go wrong, they want a magic pill to fix everything.
We, as physicians, can counsel patients to have healthy lifestyles and prevent an awful lot of morbidity, but it falls on deaf ears.
Medical schools are NOT run by the pharmaceutical industry, btw. At least not in the US. I can’t speak for other countries.
Q: where can i get dr.holmquist chiropractic hand book?

Q: Any opinions on Dr. Jason Bailey, Chiropractor – Bailey Chiropractic Life Center in Miami, FL?
A: No opinion on Bailey but in reference to the previous response. A chiro does not need to be a member of the ACA (american chiropractic association). They do need to be a member of their state association. In addition to that, there are several associations which most chiros will normally belong to one other than their state assoc. For example, their is the WCA (world chiro alliance), ICPA, IFCO- and a few others. So, not having membership specifically in the ACA means nothing.
Q: Where can I find top rated chiropractic care?
They have castle connolly for ‘america’s top drs’ but they don’t list chiropractic care. I don’t want a good dr, I want the BEST dr in my area or nearby suburb. I live in Naperville IL. Thanks in advance.
A: Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport,IA
is a good place to get a reference.
The yellow pages are sort of a hit and miss.
Personal trainers, martial artists, health food store personnel and others of a similar ilk
may make good recommendations-ask around.
There are many kinds- it pays to do some
detective work.
Q: Where can i buy dr.karl v holm quist home chiropractic home book & vidio?

Q: Is massage covered if your insurance covers Chiropractic services and the place you go to has massagetherapy?
I’m wondering if this depends on how the Dr. bills your insurance. I am new to all this after a bad accident and looking for people who have been through this! So is massage considered part of Chiropratic coverage? I called the insurance and she wasn’t clear with me. Thanks for your help and kind words.
A: It depends on what state you’re in and what your insurance covers. Some states, you can get both massage and chiropractic therapy on same visit paid by insurance, some don’t. Some will pay if the chiropractor performs the massage/soft tissue therapy in addition to chiropractic therapy, some don’t.
Consult with your chiropractor’s receptionist or insurance biller, they may have a dedicated line to call to the insurance to verify your benefits.
Q: I need the insurance medical code in order to buy a chiropractic massage chair. We can’t find it. Thanx Bob
I have a prescription to buy a chiropractic electric massage chair.my Dr. does not have the code and no one will give us the code.I have an extreme need for the chair to alleviate post herpetic neuroalgia symptems. Thanks for your help. Bob
A: Call your insurance company.
I doubt that it will relieve that type of pain because it is usually nerve pain.
A massage therapist would probably be a better idea.
Q: Where can you find more info on the side effects of electrical currents as a part of chiropractic care?
I have information from Dr. Robert Becker in his book “Cross Currents.” I am looking for further information.
Also called Electro-Muscle Stimulation or tens.
A: Here’s a pretty good site that gives an overview of the different electrical modalities that many chiropractors use, myself included.
http://www.medi-stim.com/overview.htm
Q: What do you think about the discussuin by this doctor of chiropractic and Cardiovascular Health?
I think it should be watched and can help all kinds of people of all ages live longer. What do you think of his concepts? I thought that each part had very valuable information that I really did not understand before completely.
http://www.thewellnessdoc.com/custom/dr.ungar/videos/video.asp?Video=cardiovascular&VideoPart=1
A: The information he provided can easily be obtained by picking up a good pathophysiology & biochemistry book. Interesting that he did not mention the genetic component of T2D. Lots of people are obese and do not have T2D yet majority of people who have T2D are overweight indicating a genetic and environmental component.
The chiro provided a great explanation of insulin, glucose and IR but then later said that insulin binds glucose? Insulin binds insulin receptors causing a range of actions one of which includes the translocation of GLUT4 to the surface membrane of adipocytes and myocytes. Good explanation though.
I agreed with the role of the food production companies however people need to start to demand ‘healthier’ options, low salt, less added sugar. Until the people start to demand this it will not occur (example is low fat products).
America, ‘we’re kinda a country of excess…’ ya think?
He had a very interesting spin on the role of cholesterol and atherosclerosis development, I would like to see the research that supports this view.
I would have liked to know more about what he advises for diet and exercise therapy. It is known that good exercise and diet can reverse T2D nothing to new there however, significant micro- and macrovascular damage has probably already occured unfortunatly. This highlights the importance of picking up pre-diabetic states such as impaired fasting glucose & impared glucose tolerance. I do agree that many physicians do not turn to diet and exericse which her refered to as ‘alternative’ medicine. It is a shame medications are usually the first option. Why don’t people ever get referred to a dietitian for diet changes, why does it have to be alternative medicine with supplements and herbs? Is it because people would prefer a quick fix instead of putting in the long term effort and getting the results?
Integrated health would be nice, more research into T2D would be nice, healthy food production would be nice as would preventative medicine.
I found an interesting article regarding insulin resistance
The Insulin Resistance Syndrome: definition and dietary approaches to treatment. G Reaven. Annu Rev Nutr 2005;25:391-406
Q: Chiropractic College Graduate? How was it finding a place to work? I worry as we are older and unsure?
We really dont konw what to do.. go with another Dr. Start our own practice. I heard its super tough to make it.
A: My bro went to Palmer college and had to work with another doc. His wife also grad from Palmer. they ended up working diff hrs due to being around each other all the time. Look around your area and see how many chiros there are. Its amazing how many are here in Davenport. It is super tough, but i am sure you will make it. esp if you happen to be a palmer grad.
Q: Did you OB refer you to an Osteopathc Dr. (DO) while pregnant?
He thinks it will help with my migranes and it is covered under my insurance because DOs are licensced DR. not chiropractics.
I read that they can help with nausea too, I am hoping that I can get that worked on lol.
Tell me about your experiences.
—Just about 4 months pregnant.
–Had migranse before pregnancy.
–My BP is normal.
A: Our family physician is a DO and she works on my back and headaches when I need it. She does some amazing stuff. I have had a lot of success with it. It is also very relaxing. I am very glad we found her it makes my pregnancy much easier. Hope you have the same results.
Q: What do you think about this chiropractic doctor talking about the thyroid?
http://www.thewellnessdoc.com/custom/dr.ungar/videos/video.asp?Video=thyroid&VideoPart=1
A: Watched the first one – very good review of thyroid function and hormones! Chiropractors have to have a good understanding of the thyroid as it is a structure of the neck!
I think he is heading in a nutritional direction and I have no problem with that – he was also recommending lab testing, not hocus pocus of some kind so I think it was great!
Q: Shoulder muscle pain goes up into neck help tried everything?
The muscle that connects to the back of your shoulder joint, goes across your shoulder & up into the neck is always sore & swollen. Causes stiff neck and for my neck to crack, it is very painful & visibly swollen. I have tried the regular dr, chiropractic, accupuncture, accupressure, cranial sacral therapy, massage, structural integration & nothing is helping. With each treatment it felt better for a week or two so I would start to have hopes that it was working, then it would just go back to being painful. Anyone have ANY ideas??
A: MRI could be helpful in ruling in/out disc lesion. search for “cervical herniated disc” and see if your symptoms mirror the major symptoms listed. One other thing is to note your posture throughout the day. Do you often sit for long periods of time (example: student at desk or worker at computer)? It could also be a weakness of extensor muscles supporting your upper neck, back, and shoulders. If they are not functioning properly, that will put stress on the joints in the body. You could also try chiropractic again but try an AK (applied kinesiology) doctor (www.icakusa.com). And don’t forget, if the symptoms get change or get worse consult your primary care provider.
